Illusion Exhibits

Created on commission for the Morris Museum in Morristown NJ, the following is a series of six motion graphic optical illusion video displays. These videos were presented as part of a larger exhibit that featured both video and physical illusions. Plaques detailing each illusion were shown alongside these videos, which you can hear being mentioned in the videos but could not be featured here. Working closely with the museum, this project was written, recorded, produced, and animated/edited by myself and features student voices provided by Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Reversible Image Illusion
"This silhouette of a spinning dancer may not seem like an illusion, but look again. Which way is the dancer spinning?"
Motion Induced Blindness Illusion
"Stare at the blinking green dot. Do you notice how the yellow dots seem to disappear? What if the grid stopped rotating?"

Penrose Triangle Illusion
"This shape seems to be an impossible object. Could one actually build this shape in real life? Actually, one can."
Motion Binding Illusion
"These four blue lines seems to move as disjointed pairs. What would happen if we add some green squares?"

Lilac Chaser Illusion
"Stare at the central cross. Do you see that the pink circles start to disappear after a few seconds? What else do you see happen?"
Stepping Feet Illusion
"The two rectangles seem to move alternately, like a pair of stepping feet. What would happen if the background faded to grey?"
